Driving Directions from North or South off of I-5:

  • Exit Interstate 5 at Woodburn (exit 271).
  • Go East on Hwy 214 for approx (2) miles.
  • Turn Right on Park Street (just past the railroad overpass).
  • Legion Park will be on the right.

The annual games are in Woodburn at Legion Park. Depending on where you live, Woodburn is about a 30-60min drive south of the Portland area off of I-5. The drive is WELL worth attending the event & proceeds go to Oregon Basset Hound Rescue... not to mention meet many bassets and their families! The entry fee per dog for them to enter your pooch into any/all of the games is $10, get there early to register, payment is due on-site, cash or checks are accepted. Don't forget: there are some awesome raffle items this year, so bring some extra cash to win some cool basset swag! Bring your bassets, friends of bassets (2- & 4-legged), and be ready to laugh and have some fun.

One of our meet-up members, Andrea, is the co-coordinator for the games & rescue. If you'd like to help or donate to rescue, you can always contact Andrea via the "Members" link on our meetup site.

Just saw Kimberly's post. No official meet-up for the waddle, hope you found Andrea this afternoon! As for everyone else, looks like we're going to have a bunch of people there tomorrow! Look for the green canopy, the girls & I should be under it! And yes, there's a howling contest :)

I hope all are ready for the fun. It is going to be a howling good time for all! I will be at Pet Sense to do registration for the waddle so please let me know if you are from meet-up and say hello.

OOOH, a drooling event - that's a new one, I don't *think* they have one, but a GREAT suggestion for the future!

Flo is going for the drooling champ if it is an event. Toby will just be happy to be there.

GOOD THINGS TO BRING: money for entry fee & to buy LOTS of raffle tickets, friends & family, picnic lunch, snacks & water bowl for your pooch(es), lawn chairs, beach umbrellas (there's lots of shade but if its a hot day, the more options the better). The games usually go til about 2/3pm-ish; get there early so you don't miss any of the festivities.
